Transport Planner PM – Hilsea , Portsmouth.

Steve Porter Transport Group are a leading privately owned 3rd party transport and logistics company with almost 4 decades of experience and a strong reputation for quality and efficiency in the shared user and dedicated transport solutions industry.

Due to our continued growth and success we have a vacancy for a Transport Planner – PM to work in our busy Hilsea, Portsmouth Distribution depot. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and hands on individual who is able to work on their own initiative alongside being part of a bigger team.

We can offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience & contributory pension.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 11.00 – 21.00, every fourth Saturday AM.

The main responsibilities of the Transport Planner include:

  • Planning and consolidating a variety of loads in the most efficient way possible.
  • Offering the highest level of service to our customers, both internal and external.
  • Managing and liaising with drivers in order to achieve all targets.
  • Working closely with our all of our operational teams in order to ensure that the highest level of service is achieved both internally and externally.

The essential qualities of the Transport Planner include:

  • Demonstrable experience of both planning and driver management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the transport and logistics sector.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the commercial drive to make a success of this role.

Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck operators – HILSEA

Steve Porter Transport Group have 2 vacancies for Counterbalance Fork Lift Truck operators based at our HILSEA site.

WORKING TIME : 2 Shifts available: Mon – Fri 0500-1300hrs, Tue – Sat 0200-1000hrs.


  • To work within the Transit and Warehouse teams managing the physical handling of clients’ goods.
  • The loading and unloading of palletised goods in an accurate and efficient manner whilst meeting specific deadlines.
  • To report any damage to goods, directly to the Shift Supervisor.
  • To monitor and report any discrepancies to the Shift Supervisor Manager.
  • To complete all MHE checks as instructed and inform the Shift Supervisor of any defects.
  • To Input Inbound & outbound freight onto computer system when necessary.
  • To produce and apply freight labels when necessary.
  • To ensure that all tip sheets and load notes are signed and returned to the

Transport desk on a daily basis in a timely manner.

  •  To provide general assistance where necessary in the Warehouse / Transit Operations.
  • To assist the management when required.
  • To ensure the company’s disciplinary code is adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure that all incidents and accidents and near misses are reported in a timely manner using the appropriate forms.
  • To help maintain a safe working environment in line with H&S Act 1974.
  • To maintain good self-presentation.
  • To undertake any reasonable task /request from management
